The cost of life cover is based on how long you're likely to live. So, if you want to make sure your family will be okay financially when you're gone, it's a good idea to look after yourself now. The risk level you transfer to the insurer is what directly affects the premium that you will pay monthly for them to take it on your behalf.
Check out these seven ways to help extend your life and lower the cost of your policy:
1. Buy life insurance early.
Younger people pay less insurance that older people. Younger people are generally healthier and less likely to die that older people. There are a lot of illnesses that come with age that younger people are as a result less likely to suffer. It is therefore an advantge to take life insurance as early as you can in your life.
2. Buy the cover you need.
Every insurance company has attachments or accessories to their products that are useful and some are just plain cool(for lack of a better word). The issue with those that are just cool to have is that you might not need them, and like everything else, you pay for them. Understand everything that is optional in an insurance policy and ask your self if you really need it before you buy it.
3. Quit smoking .
Smoking causes lung diseases amongst other cons and by being a smoker you are also more likely to die from those diseases because of the effect smoking has on your lungs and other body organs. Eliminating that risk for your insurer can leave you paying a lower premium. Smoking can single-handedly raise your insurance premium.
4. Eat healthily and exercise regularly .
Lead a healthy lifestyle, not being healthy is costly as you can already follow. Living a healthy lifestyle means that there is a lesser chance for your to get sick and basically to die sooner.
5. Get more sleep.
Sleeping is one of the essential contributors to wellbeing. It decreases the risk to some really serious health issues like heart problems, It can help you stay at a health weight and other great benefits that could be related to avoiding high stress levels.
6. Lower your stress levels .
We all go through stressful events, some may even argue that life itself is littered with stressful moments and you can not really avoid that. But it is important to develop mechanisms that will help you manage or reduce stress when you encounter it, to avoid stress where you can. There is about ten conditions that can be linked to stress that I can mention off the top of my head. Remember, the healthier you are, the lower premium you can be expected to pay.
6. See your doctor for regular check-ups
Everyone has a type of family history of illnesses, or even, just lifestyle habbits that may affect your health. It is importent therefore to go for check-ups regularly in order to see health issues early and to be able to manage them before they become a bigger problem.
